If you’ve always wanted to learn how to surf (or just want some practice), try this surf lesson in Maui. This Hawaiian island is the perfect place with beautiful beaches. No matter what your level of expertise on the board is, your instructor helps you every step of the way when you need it. Different types of lessons are also available to fit your personal preference, including a group, semi-private, private, and one-on-one lesson.
On the day of your surf lesson, meet at Kalama Park, which is centrally located in Kihei by local shops and restaurants. This area is known as the heart of surfing on Maui’s south side. You'll want to show up a little bit before your actual lesson time to check in. Your departure time depends on which style lesson you chose.
Your lesson begins with a warm welcome from your instructor. He or she gets you suited up in a rash guard, reef shoes, and a surf board, of course. Then, he or she shows you the ropes with a brief safety instruction.
Afterward, it’s time for your land lesson. Whether you’re a beginner surfing for your first time or an experience surfer, there’s always something to get out of a lesson. Instructors cater to your level, and make sure you feel comfortable on the board before setting you up to catch some waves.
