The Taste of Hawthorne walking food and farm tour is designed for foodies by foodies. You’ll experience one of Portland's most eclectic and historic neighborhoods, just 10 minutes from downtown, and taste your way around the world right here in Portland from lunch to late-night bites and specialty sips. The food tour takes place on SE Hawthorne Blvd which is a quintessential Portland street lined with vintage shops, boutiques, hat stores, record stores, cafés and food from here and around the world. It’s ripe with global fare made with local ingredients. You'll learn our local history while enjoying the curated menu and you’ll meet the owners and chefs behind it all. Vegetarians and gluten-freers have their own curated menus and we can also accommodate people who don’t drink alcohol or like spicy food. You'll also have the unique opportunity to tour a backyard urban farm with fruit and nut trees, berries, veggies and the Chicken Schitts – Moira, Twyla, Alexis and Stevie.
Your guide will meet you at the Belmont Multnomah County Library. After a bit of history you’ll tour a backyard urban farm growing apples, plums, hazelnuts, cherries, berries and all kinds of veggies. You’ll also meet the Chicken Schitts – Moira, Alexis, Stevie and Twyla and then head to Hawthorne for your food tour while getting detailed history about the area. You will not leave hungry! Bites and sips will add up to a very hearty meal.
