Get a behind-the-scenes peek at a working oyster farm during this guided visit to Southold Bay. Learn about the different stages of oyster farming at all levels of growth, from conception in the hatchery to a look at the market-sized grow-out stage. Tours ends with an oyster tasting along the waterfront, paired with local North Fork wine.
Our Oyster Farm Tour take place at the Shellfisher Preserve on Southold Bay. This beautiful location is a natural preserved area managed by the Peconic Land Trust. It is a shared operation where multiple farmers grow aquaculture products. Upon arrival, you will learn about the process of spawning oysters in a hatchery. Then, the tour will move to the grow-out phase where oysters grow into market size shellfish. Our tour is outdoors outdoors and fun. Tour concludes with a water front tasting of our Southold Shindig oysters paired with a local wine. Beautiful location for photos. Dont forget your cameras!
