Your Seattle spice workshop begins with a walk through the outer section of the market with Kausar to discover and purchase ingredients for your South Asian flavored Pacific Northwest experience. With your basket of fresh produce and ingredients in hand, walk a few blocks over to World Spice Market, a beautiful spice store to begin your spice workshop. Sniff, smell and discover the spices used and techniques for infusing, flavoring and seasoning South Asian food. Learn about the health benefits of spices, make your own garam masala blend and prepare a savory grilled sandwich from local and seasonal Pike Place market ingredients. Next, pound in a mortar and pestle your own chai masala and flavor the hot cup of chai that Kausar prepares for you. Your spice tour and workshop concludes with a bite of chocolate from a Pike Place Market chocolatier. Please note that this experience includes a light meal of a sandwich and salad, not a complete meal. The spice workshop table is standing height, so you’ll be on your feet for the entire experience.
