Joshua Tree National Park is like a fortress. When you are outside of it and looking at it, all you see are mountains. Created by the collision of the Pacific and North American tectonic plates, these mountains have a terrific variety of human history, plant and animal communities, micro-climates, and geologic processes. We'll travel roads both paved and dirt, on and off trails, and over rocks to understand the deeper contexts of this National Park. Our guides have chosen this work to stay close to what they love, a vast landscape that exists whether rain comes or not. We are education-forward and adventure-conscious. We feel that sharing what we have learned about the Mojave and Colorado Deserts is our life's work. Come wander with us.
“Where two deserts meet” Comprised of nearly 800,000 acres, Joshua Tree National Park represents two unique deserts (Mojave and Colorado) and contains three unique botanical zones. Expansive views, outrageous rock formations, and the iconic Joshua Tree make this national park a unique place to experience the deserts of Southern California. The driving time to and from the National Park is 1 hour or less and we’ll spend 5 to 7 hours inside the park.
