Overview

Olympic National Park boasts over 650 lakes in its borders, and Ozette Lake is the largest. Your guide will take you through the old-growth forest, sharing their knowledge of the flora and fauna common to this section of the park. About 3 miles in, you will begin to hear the unmistakable sound of the ocean waves crashing against shore where we emerge, onto sandy beaches. Here, you have the option to spend some time at the beach and turn back the way you came, or continue North for about 3 miles, as we hike towards Cape Alava, the westernmost point in the contiguous U.S. Along the way we will keep a close watch for sea otters, whales, and eagles. If we are lucky enough to have low tide, we will have plenty of time to explore some tide pools and get a closer look at life under water. A few miles after returning to the forest from Cape Alava, we will pass through unique spots of wet coastal meadows and bogs before, all too soon, we will have returned to our trailhead.

Ozette Loop Hike

The Ozette Coast is a must-see when visiting Olympic National Park. This hike features more variety than any other tour, and takes visitors through lush old-growth forests, past coastal meadows, and all the way to the Pacific coastline with breathtaking sea stacks and sea life scattered across its length. The majority of this hike follows a beautiful boardwalk seemingly hovering through thickets of fern, cedar, berry bushes, and spongy mosses. Your hike also takes you past a number of culturally significant features, including the famous Wedding Rocks—petroglyphs left by ancestors of the Makah tribe. This hike has very little elevation change with an endless amount to explore, making it the perfect hike for any fitness level, and anyone wanting to experience the incredible diversity of the park in a single day.
