As a professional wildlife photographer I'll be giving you my own insights in to how I prepare for my shoots given my 20 plus years of experience in teaching and leading photo workshops. In the past I've led trips for the North American Nature Photography Association and my own photo clubs that has over 1000 members! I'll be there to guide you and help you improve your photography while exploring one of the low country's most visited tourist attractions: Magnolia Plantation. Whether you're a beginner or have more experience and just want to fine tune your skills, I can help. I am also the Vice President of the Coastal Master Naturalists Association and a Charleston County Parks Alligator Ambassador and Bald Eagle Watch monitor.
Before we start we'll take some time for me to find out your photography experience level and then fill you in on the basics if you need them. My goal in the time we're together is to help you understand photography a little more and take photos you'll be proud to share! We'll discuss the right camera settings to use for the photos we're taking and how to decide which ones are best for each scenario. We'll also talk about composition and editing. We will walk the gardens and swamps of the plantation looking for photo opportunities. I'll be there to help you with suggestions on settings and composition as we go, plus, I'll be able to take you directly to where the best shots are.
If you're a beginner, you'll enjoy my relaxed style and ability to make what seems complex easy to understand, and if you're an experienced photographer, we'll get right to how to shoot like a pro!
This a rain or shine event, so be prepared for all types of weather (waterproofs for your camera, too) and bring your camera, the biggest zoom and other lenses you have and a tripod if you have one.
