Perfect your yoga poses on a stand up paddleboard while floating in Hawaii's tropical waters. During this 75-min class in Honolulu led by an experienced instructor, learn to adapt familiar seated, kneeling and reclining yoga poses for the water. Work on balance and core stability with some standing poses and use free time to work on any poses you'd like. Try a savasana supported by the rocking of the ocean waves. This class is suitable for all skill levels; the small group size ensures personalized attention.
Meet your instructor and small group at Ala Moana Beach Park in Honolulu. While still on shore, listen to your instructor explain basic paddleboard yoga principles, including how best to stay balanced and centered on the board. Get a safety briefing and get ready to enter the water.
Wade with your board out to waist-deep water, then drop an anchor. Begin seated on the board with a meditation, then move through sitting and kneeling positions to warm up your body. Stand up and try a few sun salutations to get a sense of balance on the board, gaining confidence to try some balancing postures. Take some free time to work on poses that interest you, whether challenging or relaxing.
End with some deep stretching and a savasana, a restful meditation done lying down on the board, rocking in the Hawaiian waves.
