Day 1 – Embark into the Alaska Wilderness

Trail Lake

Trail Lake is actually just a wide spot in the Trail River, that starts several miles north at Trail Glacier and runs to Kenai Lake, eventually emptying out into Cook Inlet, where wild salmon first start their long journey from sea back to the places they were born!

1 hour • Admission Ticket Included

Iditarod National Historic Trail

We’ll hike along a section of the Iditarod National Historic Trail. We’re excited that Alaska is investing in this trail and the Alaska Long trail from Seward to Fairbanks!

1 hour • Admission Ticket Included

Moose Pass

This overnight yurt adventure begins with a paddle across Trail Lake in Historic Moose Pass. Our guides bring this small Alaskan town’s history to life with local stories of Alaska Nellie, the ghost of gold miner Al & the famed Iditarod Trail as you paddle along the shores of Trail Lake.
After a short paddle we’ll glide to a stop & hop out of our kayaks for a hike along a section of the Iditarod National Historic Trail as we head toward the stunning, blue waters of remote Grant Lake. Our hike is moderately rated but there’s no denying we’re in wild Alaska as we hike through Spruce & Hemlock forests along the trail.
We’ll soon arrive at our remote yurt camp where your accommodation awaits; an Alaskan handmade yurt, which is situated just a short walk from the banks of gorgeous, glacially carved, Grant Lake.
If you’re up for some more paddling, you’ll have more time to explore this stunning lake by kayak.

15 hours • Admission Ticket Free

Day 2 – Wake Up to sounds of the Wilderness

Moose Pass

In the morning, often to the iconic sound of the Varied Thrush, or other migratory birds of the area, we’ll have a warm breakfast and hot coffee or tea before packing up for our journey back to Moose Pass.
