Take a break from the bustle of New Orleans to explore the lifestyles and complex history of rural Louisiana on a day trip to the Oak Alley Plantation. Take a guided tour the opulent antebellum mansion, gardens, and slave cabins, and learn about the lives of the free and enslaved families who lived here. During the drive to River Road, learn about the region's history, from the Civil War to Hurricane Katrina.
Once arriving at the tour site travelers we spend approximately two hours at the plantation. Witch will include a 30 minute guided tour of the mansion. Travelers will also will spend time on a self guided tour of the grounds viewing slave cabins, overseers quarters, and an on site Blacksmith shop. If you use tour time wisely you may have time for a quick lunch at the restaurant or a quick snack from the gift shop
