Discover the tradition of sled dog racing while in Alaska on this small-group tour. Head to a training ground for racing dogs and see what it takes for a puppy to become a champion. Enjoy a mushing experience on dry land and get a glimpse of what these dogs train for all year—the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race. After your mush, enjoy playtime with the dogs, including the puppies.
You will be picked up in downtown Talkeetna by our shuttle, and driven out to the kennel by a knowledgeable guide.
After arriving at the kennel, watch as your team of dogs are hooked up to one of our dryland mushing rigs or the 6 seat ATV preferred training method for long distance races.
You will then take off, following or riding with one of our experienced mushing guides, on a 45-minute mush through our beautiful, private, heavily-forested racing trails.
Halfway through the mush, your group will arrive at a checkpoint and give the canines a short water break. This a great time to snap some photos with your dog team.
After your team has cooled off, we will prepare for the 20 minute mush back to the kennel.
Back in the kennel, get a picture with your team and give them a final pat before walking through the kennel and learning all about how these world-class athletes live, play, and train, from puppy to retiree.
Walk with the dogs, or just have a seat and snuggle a puppy in our giant run pen.
You can visit the gift shop and check out Dallas Seavey’s Iditarod trophy display before heading back to Talkeetna.
