This day trip from Phoenix is filled with history, adventure, and beauty in the cool high country of Arizona. We love Arizona history, especially when we get to share it with our guests. Tour the ancient ruins of Montezuma Castle, have lunch among the pines at Mormon Lake, and get a taste of life in a fort at Fort Verde State Historic Park. Our small size gives us plenty of flexibility, so we can easily accommodate your requests.
View these ancient cliff dwellings by standing just below the limestone cliffs for a close-up view into Arizona’s past. Just a short walk from the Visitor’s Center on a paved walk-way brings you to this much sought out historic location.

This key camp and later fort location was heavily used during the Indian wars in Arizona. Luckily it has been preserved for us to enjoy. Visit the small museum located in the main building and this walk along the parade grounds to see the Office Quarters. The Fort is located right in the town of Camp Verde not far from the Verde (meaning “green” ) River that flows through town.
