Venture into water-carved canyons on this half-day Moab canyoneering adventure. Follow a guide along a 3-mile route of a slot canyon and learn technical skills to perform several rappels (abseils) into the sandstone chambers. You'll learn technical skills while your guide backs up each rappel on a separate safety system. Just bring sense of adventure!
Meet your guide in central Moab and depart on tour half-day canyoneering adventure in the heart of the Colorado Plateau. A short hike across petrified sand dunes takes you to the first of two rappels. Your guide will equip you with a helmet and other safety gear and demonstrate rappel techniques; no experience is necessary and most ages and skill levels can be accommodated.
You'll make a 90-foot (27-meter) drop into a water-carved, sandstone chamber that leads through a small slot. It's another short walk to a second free-hanging rappel of 120 feet (37 meters), which affords an up-close view of the 243-foot-long (74-meter) Morning Glory Arch, which stands a short distance from your rappel station.
Then it's downhill to a spring-fed stream on the Colorado River. You'll learn a bit about the area's plants, geology, wildlife, and history before returning back to the starting point.
