You are in one of the most picturesque places on earth. Why not leave with your own art? We will make sun prints from your photos along with designing piece of desert nature on the light sensitive paper.
I’m thrilled to embark on a journey with you into the realm of SUNPRINTS (aka cyanotypes). It's one of the simplest printing methods that you can easily do at home, no need for expensive equipment or a dedicated photography darkroom. Cyanotypes, once favored by engineers well into the 20th century, are now gaining traction among photographers and artists eager to expand their creative horizons through this fun alternative printing process..
In this 3 hour workshop, we will learn about the process of making SUNPRINTS. We will use the power of the desert sun to create a cyan blue print. Students will learn about the history of the process, as well as learn to coat paper and expose prints. Before class you will send a few photos and I will make digital photo negatives. We will print from negatives and also imprint on the paper with nature and 3D objects. We can use found objects: dried plants, crystals, feathers, (don't worry about bringing anything I have a bunch of fun objects).
No previous experience required.
You will leave with 5-10 cyanotype prints ( 9”x 12”)on various paper types and mediums.
