A reproduction of the first ship authorized by the Continental Congress to serve in the Continental Navy, Tall Ship Providence is the only tall ship in the DC area. She was used in the filming of "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" and "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End." This immersive tour features highly-trained actors with a wealth of practical sailing knowledge portraying 18th-century sailors to teach the history of the ship and answer any questions our guests may have.
Step back in time and into the life of a sailor serving in the Continental Navy under the command of the legendary Captain John Paul Jones in our immersive one-hour tour.
Guests will come aboard the ship under guidance of a sailor straight out of the 18th century, visit the quarterdeck, main deck, the captain’s cabin, and the hold of the ship. A senior sailor will assign you a position and a role which you will learn about during the course of the tour, and you may even learn to load a cannon! Learn about Providence’s history and the role of the Continental Navy during the American Revolution directly from a skilled team of sailors living aboard the ship.
*Note: The ship remains docked during the tour.
