As you board the luxury passenger van, you will be instantly treated like a celebrity. Leather seats and a comfortable ride await you. As we pick up other guests around the city, you will be given a mini-tour of the city or you may watch a film about other plantations to prepare you for your tour. While you are on the van, be prepared to be entertained by the driver!
Whitney tells the story of the enslaved people who lived and worked there. It also includes the history of the early owners, the Haydel family.
Laura is a French Creole plantation tour that has true, first-hand personal stories discovered in archives in the U.S. and France. It details the lives of 4 generations of Louisiana Créole women, children both free and enslaved people, who lived and worked on this 1805 sugar plantation. A 75-minute, fully guided experience led by knowledgeable, passionate interpreters. It also includes the Big House, gardens and original 1840s slave cabins, inhabited by descendants of enslaved West-Africans until 1977. Behind the scenes curated group visits of the new exhibit From the Big House to the Quarters: Slavery on Laura Plantation delve into the subjects of slavery research and women in Créole Louisiana.
