For 90 minutes we will wander in and among historical and modern points of interest, while enjoying the sights and sounds of an economically and culturally significant Alaskan coastal town. The tour will cover many well known attractions, as well as some of your guides favorite local spots. You will interact with authentic Alaskan Huskies and learn about their life and contributions to the history of Alaska. Bring your questions about Alaska life, we are prepared to engage in conversations about what it means to live and work here…and to be a husky dog here!
We begin out tour at “Thundering Wings”, a locally carved totem overlooking the port and welcoming visitors to Ketchikan. You’ll meet your guides and get a brief intro to Ketchikan.

Wander along Ketchikan’s Front Street to “The Rock”, an iconic, locally created, statue welcoming all manner of visitors to Ketchikan’s shores. Learn about the history of the waterfront and cruise ship docks in Ketchikan and the intriguing people who have visited here over the years.

Cross from Front Street to Mission Street and pass under the arch welcoming you to our city. Be sure to take note of the historical and modern symbols used to represent Ketchikan.

View Ketchikan’s historical St. John’s Episcopal Church, and learn about its history with the St. Agnes mission school, established to minister to Alaska Natives.

Take a breather in Whale Park, with the impressive Chief Kyan Totem Pole. Learn about the history of totems in Ketchikan, and wander through the botanical pleasures of Whale Park.

Between Whale Park and Creek Street, we will see a historically significant totem dedicated to Tlingit Chief Johnson. It towers over the Ketchikan Creek area and gives visitors an idea of the original people from this area.

After a stroll through Thomas Basin, complete with stories of the sea, we’ll enter Creek Street. You will walk the Creek Street boardwalk through and around all of the shops and businesses that now make up this iconic area. Your guide will show you the best places to shop, and offer you stories of a bygone era. You will learn about salmon migration and view a salmon ladder. If your timing is good you may see salmon, eagle, or seals in this area.
