Built during the Great Depression, coming in under cost and ahead of schedule, the Hoover Dam is considered one of the greatest engineering marvels of the modern world, and is a testament to America’s can do spirit! Your tour includes a trip 530 feet down into the dam for a guided tour of the power plant, a walk across the dam (a great photo opportunity with views of Lake Mead, the Colorado River and Black Canyon), viewing of the O’Callaghan / Tilman Memorial Bridge (another engineering marvel!), a stop at a scenic overlook of Lake Mead. Keep an eye out for Desert Bighorn Sheep! Then we’re off to Hoover Dam Lodge where you’ll have an opportunity to have lunch and browse some of the quaint shops.
