Hike to the top of Yellow Rock with a private guide during this small-group, full-day experience outside Kanab. A challenging hike, this excursion involves steep sandstone slopes and is ideal for moderately fit trekkers looking to explore the colorful canyon country of Southern Utah. Bottled water, four-by-four vehicle transfers from a central meeting point in Kanab, and a tasty lunch are provided.
A trip to Yellow Rock offers more colors than Baskin Robbins on it's massive Navajo sandstone dome. Arriving at the top offers the best viewing into southern Utah and northern Arizona. Hiking up a 45 degree angle is not for the beginner and one needs to be fit to attempt this all year and summer can be downright tough. Larger than 5 football fields and shapes similar to Checkerboard mesa in Zion park but with yellow, orange, white red and mauve swirling together like a massive ice cream machine. Clear views of Castle Rock, No Man's Mesa and Hack berry Canyon. This is one of the best photographic locations in the Grand Staircase-Escalante. There is no trail on the top just wandering around shooting unbelievable geology.
Tour time is 7-8 hours and you should be fit for this hike!
