On the edge of Waikiki is Diamond Head. This iconic extinct volcanic cone is an important part of Hawaii’s history & we will discuss its importance to navigation, World War 2 & talk about its significance in modern day culture, movies & television shows. We will stop for a view of the surf & possibly see Molokai which is 30 miles to the east.

We will visit ‘Hui Nalu Outrigger Club’ which was founded by Duke Kahanamoku famous Hawaiian Watermen & Olympic swimming Gold Medalist. We will learn about outrigger canoes & Chris will share his experience paddling these 40′ long, 6 person canoes.

Halona Blowhole



Halona Blowhole in on the South East side of Oahu & provided spectatualr views of the ‘Ka Iwi Coast’ know by Hawaiians as the Channel of Bones. This channel between Molokai and Oahu was heavily traveled by Hawaiians for fishing & conflicts with other island kingdoms to the east.

We will pass the Hawaiian Palace called Iolani Palace where Hawaii’s last monarch, Queen Liliuokalani ruled over the only Kingdom of the US. The queen was overthrown by the US Government 1895 at the behest of the Sugar Plantation owners. We will dive into this history to understand why this happen.
