This is a full-day Private tour of Colorado and has some unique settings for experiencing what a ghost town "feels" like. Traveler's will experience and be able to touch, feel, and smell historic sites, as well as, view artifacts from area mining claims. This trip includes stops at historic and scenic sites, such as the Red Rocks Amphitheater, Kenosha Pass, South Park City, and St. Elmo. Lunch is not provided, however, we do plan to stop for 1-1.5 hours in Buena Vista to allow the group to stretch their legs and be refreshed.
Red Rocks Park & Amphitheatre’s reputation may precede it, but there’s no replacement for experiencing this acoustically impeccable, naturally stunning marvel of ochre sandstone yourself. Designated a National Historic Landmark by the National Park Service and Department of the Interior, the amphitheater is a top destination for Colorado residents and tourists from around the world.

The Kenosha Pass area is well-known for its colorful stands of aspen in the fall. During peak leaf season (late September-early October), the trailhead at Kenosha pass can be very busy with leaf-peepers. Please use extra caution along the Highway 285 road corridor during this time. Kenosha Pass also provides scenic views of South Park from a small pullout area on the south side of the pass.

South Park City is a remarkable representation of these early towns, preserving the history of our Nation’s frontier while it educates and entertains the present. Located in Fairplay, Colorado, the museum accurately represents a mining town between 1860 and 1900. Forty-four authentic buildings are filled with over 60,000 artifacts. They portray most of the economic and social aspects of boom town life. Seven of the buildings are on their original sites. The other buildings were moved from abandoned camps and ghost towns in the South Park area. They contain period room settings and exhibits that illustrate the professions, trades, and industries that contributed to life in a 19th century Colorado mining town.

Saint Elmo, Colorado is one of the most accessible and best preserved ghost towns in the West.
There are 43 buildings remaining all scattered around: a saloon, courthouse/jail, mercantile, and private homes. This ghost town is accessible year round making it one of the few worth visiting in the winter months. The working General Store is open seasonally each summer.
