Learn firsthand about Black History from a 5th generation South Sider in a 2.5-hour walking tour of Bronzeville and beyond. Highlights of the tour include, Barack Obama’s home, Muhammad Ali’s home, Local murals and street art and Drinks! The tour will begin at the DuSable Black History Museum, the longest running museum dedicated to the preservation and documentation of Black history and culture. After meeting there, we will tour historical sites of artists and activists who shaped what we recognize as the Black Metropolis of America—discover a side of Chicago that stands taller than the buildings of the Riverwalk. Some things to note: The tour does not go inside the DuSable Black History Museum (but I encourage you to visit), Bring a camera or phone for photos. Our tour starts meeting in front of DuSable Museum, Chicagos only African American Museum named after the first non-native person to settle in Chicago. This tour does not include a tour inside of the Museum but it is encouraged that you come early and view it before the tour.

A highlight of this tour is a stop by President Obamas Chicago home in the Kenwood neighborhood which features beautiful brown and grey stone mansions that have been well preserved for over a hundred years. We will stop here to take pictures and talk about his historic presidential election as the nations first Black President.
