There's nowhere better to explore the fascinating world of active volcanism, biological diversity, and past and present Hawaiian culture than on the Big Island. On this tour—led by a park-certified guide—you'll visit Kalapana, a village destroyed by advancing lava, black-sand beaches, and Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. You'll see everything from active volcanic craters to steam vents, gazing deep into Hawaii's wild side at sunset.
Stop by Star of the Sea Painted Church. Moved by the community twice to save it from advancing lava flows in 1990, this decommissioned church is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
