This private walking tour of New York will help you feel grounded in the city’s history as you view traces of the colonial past in Lower Manhattan. You’ll hear the stories behind Manhattan place names, learn about what the island was like before European settlement, and visit some of the oldest buildings in the city.
The first spot to be colonized in Manhattan Bowling Green is where I make my introduction about what the island looked like before and why Manhattan is called that. We also talk about the beginning of the Revolutionary War and the toppling of King George III statue.
