If you're looking for the "true" HAWAII, there's no better place to find it than in Hana. Join us for a patina, a celebration of organic cultural authenticity and you'll understand why. We share with you stories of our cultural upbringing and our efforts to continue generational knowledge to our children. You'll savor seasonal flavors of Hana, and traditional dishes, and witness the husking, cracking, grading, and milking of the coconut. Take it from a native, you haven't experienced Hawaii yet, but now you can.
First moment captured against layered forestry framing the Ko'olau mountains of east Maui by master photographer Jerry Grigory. Beautiful momentum to mark the day we became 'ohana (family). My 'ohana welcomes you and yours to our backyard for a pa'ina (feast) and teach you of traditions still lived. We dance for you a song telling our passions through hula (dance) and mele (song). We'll weave a good luck charm for you to keep. Enjoy a sampler of morning picked fruits and staples in season. Entree choices; Kalua Pork, Beef Laulau, Grilled Fish, Pohole Tossed Salad. Served with Hawaiian and Tahitian cuisine of seasonal staples (breadfruit, sweet potato, taro), fresh fern-shoot salad and coconut pudding. As you dine, we explain traditional methods used to prepare your meal. Childhood recipes from papa's pantry, where love is the first ingredient, second is coconut milk. We perform a live demo on how we husk, crack, and grade coconut to squeeze out its milk.
In honor of Niu-coconut, the Tree of Life, we showcase items crafted from the coconut tree, providing a convenient lifestyle for Polynesians. Effortlessly, we weave a tray from palm leaves right before your eyes.
