See Alcatraz Island and learn the history of ‘The Rock’ with a 3-hour ferry and audio tour of the island and prison. Then check out San Francisco’s Aquarium of the Bay and get up close and personal with our underwater neighbors! On day 2, you'll head to Muir Woods and Sausalito and you’ll wander through ancient groves of coastal redwoods at the Muir Woods National Monument and take a leisurely walk along the historic flower-lined sidewalks of Sausalito. If you’ve never seen an old-growth redwood forest, prepare for a full sensory experience.
Alcatraz Island
Alcatraz is a must-visit attraction for any traveler visiting San Francisco. You’ll take the ferry out to “The Rock”, taking in amazing views of the San Francisco skyline, Golden Gate Bridge, and Angel Island along the way.
You’ve crossed the bay, now see what’s swimming below the surface! At this stage of your tour, you’ll visit the 20,000 animals living in the Aquarium, from eight-foot native seven-gill sharks to eels, rays, and jellies – all of which can be found in the San Francisco Bay.

Muir Woods National Monument
From the comfort of the mini-coach, enjoy sweeping views of the city skyline, Alcatraz Island, and the boat-dotted bay.
Next, we’ll journey along the winding coastal mountain path through the Marin Headlands, where you’ll catch sight of Mt. Tamalpais, the highest point in the North Bay region, before arriving in the cool, shaded canyon that houses these unique coastal redwoods.
Are you ready to feel small beside a redwood? You’ll step off the mini-coach into a wonderland of greenery. On our redwood tours from San Francisco, you’ll have an hour to 90 minutes to wander along the wooden boardwalks through the tallest species of tree in the world.
From Muir Woods, it’s a short drive to Sausalito, a picturesque town with hilltop mansions and boutique shops and cafes along the waterfront.
Take it all in on our Sausalito tours with an in-coach narrated tour and 45 minutes to explore. Then, loop around for the return trip to San Francisco.
