Visit several one-of-a-kind places, including the First African Baptist Church, the Praise House, Mary Fields School (memorialized in Pat Conroy’s ‘The Water is Wide’) and the site of the Bloody Point Lighthouse. Tour studios and meet local artisans at Silver Dew Pottery and The Iron Fish, home to Martha Stewart American Made winner Chase Allen. Learn the rich history of the Native Americans, European settlers, the cotton trade, the Gullah people and the locals who have chosen to make this remote island their home. Tour includes boat cruise from Hilton Head Island, USCG licensed Captain and interpretive naturalist/historian guide, golf cart, light snack and refreshment.
The tour It begins with a boat ride from Shelter Cove Marina to The back side of Daufuskie Island. The ride is an important part of the tour! Along the way we will stop for Dolphins other wildlife. Plus view and discuss the sites on Daufuskie and the neighboring islands that are best scene from the water. Your captain is a naturalist.

Once on Daufuskie you’ll get on golf carts and take a tour of the historic in undeveloped, historic, side of the island. We stop at pretty much all of the significant historic sites , visit with local residents, and the artisans of Daufuskie . Your guide is a historian so along the way we have lots of stops, discussions, visits and will go inside everywhere appropriate. Locations that are not occupied we have keys to. The cost includes everything. Everything being your boat ride there and back your golf carts, all the stops, all staffing, refreshments and snacks.
