The Old North Church is a must-see Freedom Trail destination! Founded in 1723, Old North is the oldest still-standing church building in the city of Boston. Old North is world famous for the events of April 18, 1775, when allies of Paul Revere held two lanterns in the church's steeple as a signal that British troops were heading to Lexington and Concord "by sea" across the Charles River. This momentous act ignited the American Revolution.
Discover Old North Church’s secrets and stories with our immersive audio tour! Available in English or Spanish, the tour weaves together the story of Paul Revere’s famous lantern signal with recent research into the lives of Old North’s early congregants. Visitors to the church will also have the chance to chat with our knowledgeable Educators, explore our exhibit, and enjoy our free scavenger hunts (which are great for kids).
