Explore the marine life in the jetties surrounded by green water on this small-group Panama City snorkeling adventure. Beginners are welcome and receive instruction before getting into the water. Plus your instructors are there to keep an eye on you at all times. Keep on the lookout for critters like blue crabs, hermit crabs, and possibly even octopus or dolphins.
Requirements:
– Must be in reasonable physical and mental health.
– Must be at least 10 years old. This activity requires a minimum of 4 participants.
We will meet you at the St. Andrews State Park Jetties public area pavilions at the end of the parking lot. Jetties are a man-made finger of rock that juts out into the Gulf of Mexico. Visitors may notice invertebrates such as blue crabs, hermit crabs and even the occasional shy octopus scuttling in and out of concealment in the rocks. You’ll see numerous fish species as you snorkel, including tangs, sergeant majors, damselfish, puffer fish and wrasse, manatees, rays with occasional visitors from the deeper Gulf of Mexico waters. A number of dolphin pods make the area around the jetty home, allowing for the possibility of a chance encounter with one of these resident marine mammals. All necessary gear is included, but if you have your own gear you are welcome to use it.
