This private dining experience offers a personally-cooked Middle Eastern meal in the home of a chef who grew up in Jordan. A special opportunity to see Los Angeles from the perspective of a local, you’ll get to relax in the colorful garden of the chef’s Canoga Park house in the San Fernando Valley before enjoying a four-course meal cooked from family recipes.
This is a unique opportunity to visit the home of a local and explore traditional culture and cuisine. Meet your host Jacqueline at her California ranch-style house in the Canoga Park neighborhood of the San Fernando Valley in the greater Los Angeles metro area. Her home has a garden with colorful flowers, citrus trees and a hammock. Sip on a welcome drink of traditional Arabic arak or a non-alcoholic refreshing beverage as Jacqueline shares stories about her life in Southern California. Then, join your host and her family (when they are in town) at the dining table to enjoy an authentic four-course Middle-eastern meal. Your meal is made from family recipes that have been passed down through generations and with spices that Jacqueline brings back from her travels. Enjoy appetizers such as hummus, foul and baba ghannouj with warm bread followed by a main of shawarma or succulent kababs. For dessert, dive into a decadent baklava or hareesah. Enjoy your meal over wine, arak and coffee. Most importantly, get a taste of the Middle-east in LA with hospitable hosts – you will laugh, learn and even belly dance during this unique, cultural and culinary experience.
