Millions of years ago, this area was covered by dunes. The sand deposited by the wind accumulates in layers.
The sand layers were compressed and lithified over time, turning into solid sandstone.
Water and wind erosion over time carved the sandstone into the current beehive shapes. Especially rain and wind sculpted the sandstone into rounded and smooth forms.
